The House Will Be Empty

THE HOUSE WILL BE EMPTY

The thought of you leaving

it hurts me inside

I wish I could pack up

and go along for the ride.

I've started thinking

since you're moving away

what I've taken for granted

in the past and today.

To you I felt closest

and never knew why

yet so many years

since I just stopped to say "Hi".

And I drove by

your house today

and I thought about

you; going away.

Because pretty soon

we'll say our goodbyes

and the house will be empty

when I drive by.
