I created the category through the years because that is how I organized the paper version of my work.

Through the years allows me (now you) to relate to the time these poems were written. It was the best way I could organize my thoughts and my emotions so that when I looked back on them (like now), I could understand what I was writing about, who I was referring to and when.

When I was younger, I used my poetry as a journal. It was a way that I could keep memories close to me. I wasn't (and I'm still not) trusting of other people so when I experienced or felt something, I wrote it down. My poems were my "safe haven", a place where I could keep things close and dear to me - with me always. I never intended to share them but as years passed and I let certain people into my special world, I realized how much other people enjoyed them. I can't tell you the number of people who smiled when my special gift to them was something I wrote. A lot of people have shared smiles and tears just by being presented with words.

NEVER have I shared my work in this way or displayed it for public view. NEVER have I given so many people the ability to comment.

Everything I have ever written will be disclosed on this blog - nothing will be held back. I am excited and scared at the same time.
