My First Poem (Death)
This is the first poem I wrote.
I was 12 years old and in confirmation class at my church. We were doing a unit on death and dying and each of us in the class had to create our own head stone. My head stone was created with paper to appear as marble with a foil cross. Within the cross held a poem and this is what it said.
DEATH
She's finally there
now she can rest
she tried real hard
and did her best.
In that room
she did not weep
she closed her eyes
and went to sleep.
And on that morning
the very next day
that little girl
had passed away.
She is not here
she could not stay
she's in a place
real far away.
I have no fear
I show no clue
cuz God I know
she's with you!
